Anchored at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Aarhus University, the AI lab will foster collaborations across disciplines and push boundaries in analytical and generative AI for research data transformation.
The Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated AI Developer for analytical and generative AI initiatives in interdisciplinary academic research supporting AI based experiments connecting data and theoretical models.The successful candidate will spearhead the development of scalable AI prototypes while forging new algorithmic paths in generative AI for the natural sciences, empowering researchers to tackle complex, data-intensive challenges in uncharted territory.
Key Responsibilities Engage with researchers through their expression of AI needs as well as participatory workshops to map domain-specific AI needs.Design, develop, and validate advanced analytical and generative AI solutions tailored for large-scale research datasets.
Prototype AI applications on local GPU-hardware, ensuring seamless scalability to HPC environments like the Gefion supercomputer.
Bridge AI/ML methods with empirical data from experimental research communities.
Mentor and leverage AI skills and capabilities across the faculty through hands‑on collaboration, training sessions, and active knowledge sharing.
Your Profile Hold a Master’s or Ph.D.
(or postdoctoral-level experience) in Natural Sciences, preferably Computer Science, or a closely related field- demonstrating strong research competence, critical thinking, and disciplinary expertise.
Strong expertise in analytical AI and mandatory hands-on experience coding with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch or similar.
Comfort with GPU-accelerated compute, HPC workflows, data handling architectures and visualization of analytical results.Passionate about collaborations across diverse scientific disciplines to transform complex domain datasets into resilient AI solutions A natural problem-solver: curious, self-driven, and capable of translating ideas to impact across all natural sciences Ideally, a blend of theoretical foundation and hands-on experience with real-world datasets and research challenges.
