SEO Specialist
SEO SPECIALIST AT MERCIVE
Are you the kind of person who sees a ranking drop and takes ownership of figuring out why, end-to-end? Do you thrive when you get to shape how SEO is done across an entire agency, not just tick off audit items, and do you treat AI as a serious multiplier for what you can deliver? Then you might be the person we're looking for at our office in the center of Copenhagen.
Mercive is a fast-growing Shopify e-commerce agency based in Copenhagen. We're the right match if you want to join a team that pushes boundaries and solves real business problems through design, technology, and strategy. We believe AI is fundamentally changing how digital work gets done, and we're putting it at the core of how we work, not as a gimmick, but as a genuine multiplier for quality, speed, and what's even possible to deliver. We're looking for specialists with an entrepreneurial mindset: people who take initiative, own outcomes, and hold themselves accountable without waiting to be told.
THE ROLE
You'll take responsibility for our SEO practice, ensuring every project follows best practices, whether that's an ongoing client we're growing month over month, or a large-scale platform migration where getting the technical foundation right is critical. You'll be the person who sets the standard for how SEO is done at Mercive and makes sure it's applied consistently across the team.
AI is increasingly part of how we work, and SEO is no exception, whether that's using AI to accelerate content and technical audits, building automated monitoring and reporting, or finding leverage in repetitive analysis work. We don't expect you to be an AI expert on day one, but we do want someone genuinely curious and eager to push what's possible. The specialists who thrive here are the ones who experiment, find leverage, and bring new approaches to the team.
The search landscape itself is shifting fast. AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other answer engines are changing how people discover brands, and traditional SEO is becoming GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). We want someone who's actively thinking about how our clients stay visible when the search result is increasingly an AI-generated answer, not a list of blue links. This is an open, fast-moving space, and we're looking for someone eager to help define how Mercive approaches it.
Shopify is our main focus, and much of your work will center on the technical and strategic SEO challenges that come with premium DTC and fashion brands: international SEO and multi-market setups (Shopify Markets, hreflang, subfolder structures), site migrations where preserving and improving rankings is non-negotiable, structured data, Core Web Vitals, the architectural decisions that determine whether a storefront performs in search, and the emerging discipline of optimizing for AI answer engines and LLM-driven discovery, where the playbook is still being written. You'll work closely with developers, UX, and project management to make sure SEO is built in from the start, not bolted on at the end.
This is a fast-paced environment where the opportunities for growth are endless, and where the people who take ownership and run with things go furthest.
