Student Job – Liability Underwriting

At HDI Denmark, we are now looking for two analytical and ambitious student workers to join our Nordic Liability Underwriting team in Copenhagen.
This is a unique opportunity to gain handson experience with real underwriting decisions, working alongside senior underwriters who insure leading companies across industries such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, construction, food & beverage, and businesses driving the green transition.
What you will work with
As a student, you will play an important role in our Nordic liability underwriting team which currently consists of 8 underwriters and 6 assistants. You will work closely with our experienced underwriters who will provide both theoretical knowledge, practical support and guidance, that will enable you to take part in the underwriting process of clients and – over time – ensure your continuous professional development.

You will work out of our Copenhagen-based office placed on the waterfront of Christianshavn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participation in the assessment and underwriting of complex liability risks, primarily within Public and Products Liability, including:
- Identification and analysis of liability risk exposures
- Review and interpretation of policy wordings, coverage triggers, exclusions and contractual terms
- Basic pricing methodologies and portfolio considerations
- Review of claims data and loss trends
- Supporting underwriting decisions through structured data analysis and preparation of client and broker materials
- Engaging with insurance brokers on a day-to-day basis on client-related topics
- Handling of underwriting-related administration, ensuring efficiency and consistency in our deliveries
- Assisting in data analytics for portfolio steering purposes across the Nordic liability book
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for students who are curious and motivated by learning and by delivering high-quality work.- You are studying a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree (preferably, second half) within law, business, economics or similar fields
- You have an interest in corporate insurance solutions and ideally (but not required) have some work experience from the insurance industry
- You communicate clearly in English and one of the Nordic languages, both verbally and in writing
- You are comfortable working with numbers and structured analysis
- You take ownership of your tasks, and and pay attention to detail
- You enjoy collaborating with others – externally (brokers and clients) as well as internally (colleagues and stakeholders)
- You have solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
