About the Agriculture, Forestry and Private Sector Development (AFP) Team The AFP Team combines expertise in sustainable agriculture, forestry, and private sector development to deliver high-impact projects worldwide. Our work combines technical excellence with practical solutions to strengthen livelihoods, promote biodiversity, and foster resilient markets in Africa, Asia, and beyond.
We manage donor-funded programmes for partners such as Danida, SDC, SECO, GIZ, KfW with more, supporting value chain development, entrepreneurship, and innovative financing mechanisms. Examples of projects currently being implemented: Projet Opérationnalisation de la Filière Semencière (PROFISEM), Chad – Strengthening the formal seed sector by professionalising seed producers, improving certification systems, and building institutional capacity to ensure sustainable access to quality seeds and enhance food security.
Projet Appui à la Valorisation des Produits Forestiers Non Ligneux (PFNL), Chad – Supporting rural livelihoods by strengthening value chains for non-timber forest products such as tamarind, honey, and tubers, promoting sustainable resource management and income generation.Markets and Seeds Access Project I and II (MASAP), Zambia & Zimbabwe – Enhancing food security through improved seed systems and climate-resilient agriculture. Ghana Private Sector Competitiveness Programme (GPSCP II) – Improving productivity in cashew and oil palm value chains through strategic partnerships and matching grants.
The Position The position is full time (37 hrs) and based in Copenhagen. We are looking for project assistant to support our projects in mainly west Africa and elsewhere. Scope of Work Project-related work tasks: Assist Project Managers in project administration and documentation tasks such as timesheets, invoicing, TORs, recruitment.
Organize and facilitate meetings (hybrid and online meetings), prepare agendas and take minutes. Support procurement and logistics related to project travels, e.g. booking flight tickets, hotel, visa arrangements etc. Assist Project Managers in the preparation of presentations, and other deliverables as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Project Managers or management. Other work tasks: Assist bid teams in preparing tenders and expressions of interest specifically related to recruitment, CV tailoring, research, translation, and preparation of administrative documents.
Support procurement and logistics related to team travels Take minutes of weekly AFP team meetings Qualifications and Skills We expect that you: Have a relevant university degree Are recently graduated or have 1-2 years of work experience Can work independently and as part of a team Have a proactive and detailed approach to problem-solving Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French (C1 level for both is a must).
Have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AI tools Have good organizational and time management skills. Previous experience in a similar administrative or project support role is preferred but not a requirement.
Conditions of employment The position is full time, and the Project Assistant will be based at NIRAS’s office in Copenhagen, Søtorvet 5, 4th floor, 1371 Copenhagen, Denmark. You will report directly to the AFP Team Manager, Anne Højmark Andersen, and the Project Managers.
Your role may require coordination with other teams and partners as necessary.
