Postdoctoral researcher for a project on late effects of childhood cancer About the position The position is available from 1 January 2026 and will run for two years. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of the Childhood Cancer Research Team headed by senior scientist Line Kenborg.
Your main focus will be to lead a register-based research project on late complications, utilising data from the Nordic research programme on Socioeconomic Consequences in Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer in Scandinavia (SALiCCS) and Statistics Denmark.
The focus of the research project will be to assess the risk of pregnancy and delivery complications, including preterm birth and caesarean section, among female survivors compared to the general population, and to investigate neonatal health outcomes in children born to survivors.
Your responsibilities will include preparing and managing data, conducting statistical analyses under supervision, and contributing to grant applications. You will collaborate closely with fellow researchers, data managers and statisticians within the Childhood Cancer and Hematology Group, as well as clinicians and Swedish partners from the Karolinska Institute.

About you We expect you to have a relevant master’s degree (e.g., medicine or public health) combined with a PhD in epidemiology, and that you are fluent in English. Furthermore, it will be of great advantage to have: Experience with Danish health registries and large population-based data for use in epidemiological studies Solid knowledge of epidemiological and statistical methods Capability to work both independently and to advise and support colleagues in cross-disciplinary research collaborations Experience with writing grant applications A good understanding of GDPR and knowledge about how to conduct epidemiological research in a GDPR compliant manner About us The Danish Cancer Society has its own cancer institute consisting of 21 research groups with about 250 researchers and students devoted to cancer research that ranges from basic research to epidemiological and translational research.

In the Childhood Cancer Research Team in the Childhood Cancer and Hematology Group headed by Professor Henrik Hjalgrim, we conduct research within different aspects of childhood cancer, including early diagnosis, survival and late complications, as well as familial cancer syndromes, using large national, Nordic or European cohorts.
Our focus is on epidemiological research which we conduct in close collaboration with clinicians treating and following childhood cancer patients. Salary will be provided according to the current agreements between the Danish Cancer Society and the relevant trade union. Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
