Danish Energy Management (DEM) is an international consultancy operating at the intersection of development aid, climate action, and sustainable energy. We support governments, financial institutions, and development partners in designing and implementing projects that accelerate the green transition while fostering economic growth and improving livelihoods.
Our Global Team collaborates with leading donors and financing institutions, including the World Bank, European Commission, European Investment Bank, African Development Bank, NEFCO, and Danida. Together, we deliver impactful projects in emerging and developing markets, combining climate and energy solutions with strong business and development perspectives.
Your Role
As a student assistant at DEM, you will join an international consulting environment and gain hands-on experience across the project lifecycle from identifying opportunities and developing proposals to supporting project implementation and collaboration with stakeholders.
You will develop insight into how international development projects are structured, financed, and executed, while building skills in research, communication, and coordination.
Key tasks include:
- Identifying and tracking opportunities within international development and donor-funded programs
- Supporting preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and proposals, including:
- Research on markets, sectors, and development priorities
- Search for international experts and tailor CVs and references
- Contribution to concepts and methodologies
- Preparation of application materials
- Supporting collaboration with international partners and experts
- Contributing to knowledge sharing and maintaining project and partner insights
- Assisting with ongoing project and team activities
The role offers flexibility, and responsibilities can be shaped based on your skills and interests (e.g. regions, thematic areas, or private sector engagement) in dialogue with your mentor and manager.
Your Profile
You are enrolled in a relevant master’s programme (e.g. international business, economics, development studies, political science, or similar) with at least two years remaining.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is motivated by sustainability and global development
- Is curious about international project development and delivery
- Is interested in the commercial aspects of competing internationally
- Has strong analytical, research, and communication skills
- Works in a structured and detail-oriented manner
- Takes ownership and follows through on tasks
- Thrives in an international, collaborative environment
- Is proactive, reliable, and eager to learn
Relevant work experience or international exposure is an advantage but not required.
Fluency in English is required; Danish and other languages are a plus.
