Contact organisation As a volunteer in the Leisure Effort, you will be assigned to a family that needs support to get their children started with a leisure activity.
For example, you will help the parents to get an overview of possible leisure activities and to understand the framework and rules of the association life, and support the children to get started with a leisure activity in Albertslund Municipality.
Your tasks as a volunteer All families are different and therefore have different needs, but as a volunteer you will often: Have a dialogue with the family about the children's interests and local leisure opportunities.Support parents in registering and applying for membership fees.
Talk to parents about what the association expects of them as parents.
Take the child and parents to the association the first 1-3 times to support a good start and good dialogue with the association.
Participate in bridge-building events with other volunteers Ongoing, for a period of up to 6 months, follow up with the parents regarding how the child is doing in the leisure activity.
It is important that your support for the family always takes place in collaboration with the parents, and that you work together towards enabling the family to stand on its own two feet in association life.
As a volunteer you will receive: Opportunity to make a big difference for children and families who are not used to associations.
A thorough introduction to the role of bridge builder for association life.Training in working with empowerment.
Ongoing sparring from the project consultants in DRC.
A social community and sparring with other volunteers who you can meet at volunteer group meetings approximately every other month.
Access to DRC Danish Refugee Council's courses and other offers for volunteers.
Our expectations for you: You don't need any special experience to become a volunteer in the Leisure Activities
- you will be trained for the role!
Maybe you speak Ukrainian, Kurdish, Arabic or something else, but that's not essential.
The most important thing is that you have the drive and desire to help parents who are not used to associations get their children started with a leisure activity.You must be able to spend 1-2 hours a couple of times a month.
We hope that you will have the opportunity to participate in an introductory course on February 5th at 5:00 PM at the Danish Refugee Council's head office, where you, together with other new volunteers, will receive a thorough introduction to the role of volunteer.
