The appointment will be at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University with a special affiliation to Center for Clinical and Genomic Data (CONNECT).Who are we?Department of Clinical Epidemiology is a highly specialized research department operating at an international level within clinical epidemiology.Our mission is to contribute to improved diagnostics and treatment, thereby enhancing patients’ prognosis. Department of Clinical Epidemiology builds on the long-standing tradition of research and teaching in epidemiology at Aarhus University.

CONNECT is organized under the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and operates as a network, bringing together specialists from Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Department of Molecular Medicine, and Department of Clinical Genetics, Aarhus University HospitalMore information on the Department of Clinical Epidemiology is available at https://kea.au.dk/Your job responsibilitiesThe position includes both research (including contract research) and teaching responsibilities.A part-time appointment as Professor at Aarhus University will be affiliated with the position. In their daily work, the Senior Researcher will collaborate closely with epidemiologists, clinicians, and statisticians on projects both in Denmark and internationally.
The Senior Researcher will allocate 50% of their time to independent research activities and 50% on assigned tasks, as agreed with the management.The main tasks areparticipating in advisory functions within CONNECTcontributing to the development and dissemination of personalised medicine in close collaboration with the Department of Molecular Medicine and the Department of Clinical Genetics, thereby enhancing the value of genomic data in combination with other clinical dataparticipating in EU projects related to CONNECTleading and co-authoring relevant peer-reviewed publications, ensuring appropriate interpretation of results and timely dissemination of key epidemiological findingsdeveloping an independent research agenda and actively seeking external research fundingcontributing to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and graduate levels at the Faculty of Health, Aarhus University contributing to the development of the field of clinical epidemiology.Tasks within applied epidemiology will be defined in close collaboration with the management at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology.
The Senior Researcher will report to the Chair on research tasks within applied epidemiology, and to the Chief Physician on tasks related to the Central Denmark Region/Aarhus University Hospital.The successful candidate will havea PhD degree or equivalent academic qualifications, with strong formal training in epidemiologic methodsadvanced training in epidemiologic principles and methods, with demonstrated ability to apply these methods appropriately and to critically interpret findings from epidemiological studiesexperience in collaborating with national and international research groups in reproductive epidemiology, including the ability to establish and maintain effective and productive collaborations with stakeholders in both academic and non-academic sectorsexperience in planning, designing, coordinating, and conducting epidemiological studies – from protocol development and statistical analysis planning to publication – using routinely collected and self-reported data and applying state-of-the art epidemiologic methodsstrong analytical and writing skills, as well as a documented track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences.
On a personal level the successful candidate willbe mature and ambitious, demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, and possess good communication and interpersonal skillsbe able to work independently, take responsibility, and effectively plan and prioritise their own worksupervise and coordinate the work of study coordinators, statisticians, and epidemiologists, and engage relevant clinical expertise when neededdemonstrate the ability to plan and oversee the successful implementation of long-term, multi-stakeholder projectsspeak and write in Englishthe candidate will report to Professor Henrik Toft Sørensen on matters related to research and teaching and to Chief Physician Mette Nørgaard on administrative matters.
