Operational Specialist, Surveillance Radars
Weibel is scaling our next generation surveillance radar XENTA for short-range air defence (SHORAD) and C-UAS applications. XENTA is a state-of-the-art X-band FMCW sensor system designed for high-performance 3D air surveillance across a wide range of threats.
Since launch, XENTA has gained strong traction, and we are expanding the Product Management team with a former operational leader who can translate real-world air defence experience into compelling operational impact. In this role, you will not only shape how our systems are used – you will represent Weibel on the global stage, engaging with defence leaders, operators, and decision-makers.
Your role and responsibilities As a XENTA Operational Specialist in the Surveillance Radar domain, you will join a growing Product and Sales team bringing Weibel’s surveillance sensors to market. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Bid Management, End Users, and Integrators.
You will play a key role in translating customer needs into features and product definitions. You bring hands-on experience with modern short-range air defence (SHORAD) systems, including concepts of operations (CONOPS) and employment (CONEMP).
You will connect end-user and market needs to the current portfolio and future roadmap and help build internal domain knowledge by sharing relevant use cases with our engineering teams. The role requires strong drive and ownership. You will lead broad tasks aligned with Product Line Management and the product roadmap, while providing operational support to Sales Account Managers.
Main responsibilities: Own and evolve CONOPS and CONEMP for the surveillance product lines Act as a trusted advisor to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders Contribute to internal training and bring operational insight into R&D development Represent Weibel at international conferences, exhibitions, and industry forums e.g., as a keynote speaker Support customer engagements, demos, and high-impact campaigns Translate operational experience into clear product requirements and use cases for our engineering team Prepare product white papers for bid deliverables and RFI responses Build strong relationships with end users, defence stakeholders, and integrators Stay up to date on market needs, competitors, and emerging technologies Conduct Market Assessments and Competitor benchmarking Travel up to 50 days per year can be expected.
Your qualifications and background As a XENTA Operational Specialist, you bring firsthand operational credibility into a commercial and product-driven environment. You have a background from the Armed Forces - preferably within Air Defence – and have either been an end user of short-range air defence systems or worked closely with end users.Experience with sensor systems is required; radar experience is a strong advantage. Our expectations: Hands-on experience with SHORAD systems Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global, and complex environment Experience working in a product and sales organization Ability to manage multiple tasks while keeping an eye on critical details Strong prioritization skills and ability to handle urgent requests English at negotiation level is a must (spoken and written) The position will require that you obtain a security clearance.
