DSP and acoustics engineer - founding engineer or CTO
Zeta Diagnostics is building a first-in-class medical device for long-term monitoring of middle ear pressure regulation.
Our mission is to help ENT specialists diagnose Eustachian Tube Dysfunction earlier and objectively through real-world data collected over time, not just during a short clinic visit.
We are developing a wearable diagnostic platform that combines acoustics, electronics, signal processing, and software to bring a modern data-driven approach to an area with major unmet clinical need.
Zeta Diagnostics is backed by BII (Novo Nordisk Foundation), several foundations, and is moving toward further clinical validation.
You will work closely with Zeta’s Founder and CEO, who came from a well-known Danish scaleup and built product and a team solving a quite similar problem.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a CTO / Founding Engineer to take technical ownership of the core physical device and our ML detection algorithm and help build the company from an early stage.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to work across acoustics, DSP , electronics, prototyping, and product development in a medtech startup. You will help define the technical direction, make key architecture decisions, work closely with external development partners and experts, and play a central role in turning prototypes into a clinically valuable product.
For the right candidate, this role includes significant equity and real long-term influence on both product and company.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Hands-on leadership and technical development of the device (algorithm + physical
- device)
- Own key decisions across acoustics, electronics, DSP / ML, and system design
- Work closely with the founder and external partners
- Drive prototyping, testing, iteration, and technical problem-solving
- Help shape the technical strategy and future engineering team
YOUR BACKGROUND
You likely have a background in DSP , acoustics, electronics, audio engineering, hearing aids, tympanometry, embedded electronics or a related field, and strong experience in some of the following:
- Machine learning
- Audio electronics
- Acoustics
- Digital Signal processing
- Embedded development
Experience with regulated development, including ISO 13485 and/or IEC 62304, is a strong plus.
WHO YOU ARE
You are fast-moving, hands-on, pragmatic, technically strong, and excited by the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage startup. You like building, testing, and solving hard problems in the real world. You can go deep technically while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
You may already be in a senior technical or leadership role, or you may be ready to step into one. Uncertainty comes for free in a startup so an understanding of managing uncertainty would be a definite plus.
We are early stage and a small operation. As an early-stage startup, we cannot match the salary levels of large multinationals. Instead, we aim to offer meaningful upside through equity or warrants, and we are looking for someone who understands and is motivated by long-term value creation.
The role does require some travel as well as presentation of the company to stakeholders.
