Join us in building the next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are seeking a Full-stack Software Engineer for Vacuum Chamber Control (Maternity cover).

Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation quantum computing processor technologies.

Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring quantum computing to scale.

About us

Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.

NQCP is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.

In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.

Join our team

We are looking for a Full-stack Software Engineer (1-year maternity cover) to support the development of critical software tools for our vacuum deposition systems and industrial process control. In this role, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver robust, well documented solutions that enable our next generation quantum processor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and debug full-stack software for controlling various industrial vacuum deposition chambers
  • Build software for industrial process data collection
  • Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and physicists
  • Identify software requirements across teams and document delivered software solutions

Professional and personal qualifications

You thrive in interdisciplinary collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers, and you are eager to learn complex industrial systems and transform them into simple, efficient user experiences. You also enjoy being hands on during deployment and are keen to participate directly at the hardware location.

Your qualifications and experience may include:

  • BSc or MSc in Software Engineering or Automation Engineering
  • + 3 years of post graduate experience
  • In‑depth knowledge of Python
  • Experience with GitHub
  • Strong understanding of software architecture
  • Ability to translate user requirements into meaningful, user‑friendly software UIs
  • Proficient in data processing
  • Consistently documents delivered software thoroughly
  • Knowledge of automation and control theory, including practical experience working with sensors, drives, and other hardware components
  • Preferably experience with PLC systems
  • Preferably experience with Ultra‑High‑Vacuum (UHV) systems

We offer

You will join a highly skilled Opto Electrical Engineering team (5 colleagues), and will be reporting into the Head of Mechanical Engineering. The environment is hands on, collaborative, and deeply interdisciplinary, with teams working closely to develop and refine the hardware and processes behind our next generation quantum manufacturing systems.

Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
