PhD student for a project on risk factors for breast cancer - København
The institute has an international profile with around 250 researchers and other staff members from 30 countries covering basic, translational and epidemiologic cancer research. In the Diet, Cancer and Health group, we study how diet, host and lifestyle factors affect the risk of cancer as well as the prognosis after cancer, and how lifestyle affects healthy ageing.
About the position The overall purpose of the PhD project is to go deeper into benign breast disease as a risk factor for breast cancer to obtain knowledge that may lead to actions to reduce the risk of breast cancer. The project will be based on data from nationwide health registers and data from the Danish Diet, Cancer and Health cohort.
We will use standard statistical methods and more modern learning algorithms. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project in collaboration with the project group. You will take care of literature review, categorisation of diagnoses, data processing, statistical analyses and reporting of the results in scientific journals and at national or international meetings/conferences.
You will be enrolled in a university PhD programme. About you We expect you to have: A master’s degree in a relevant field (medicine, public health, human biology or other related fields) Preferably experience in programming and statistical analyses in SAS or R Knowledge about epidemiology Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English A positive attitude and contribute to a good working environment We offer An exciting position in an inspiring and international research environment A fully funded 3-year PhD student position We have an in-house seminar series, a young researchers’ association and strong administrative and IT support.
Working hours are 37 hours per week including a lunch break. You will receive salary and pension in accordance with the current agreement between the Danish Cancer Society and the relevant trade union.
