Your work tasks The Post doc position will be part of an ongoing EU project “IGNITION” (Improving green innovation for the blue revolution – Homepage
- IGNITION).
The project seeks to revolutionize salt tolerant (halophyte) biomass use by developing a universal biorefinery model for processing into high-value functional feed additives, including fermentation of green fractionated halophyte biomass into probiotic feeds.
The specific work of the Post Doc will be to optimize and scale up the probiotic fermentation process to produce large amounts for feeding trials by project partners.The work will be focused around applied microbiology and fermentation technology ranging from lab scale to 100 liter pilot scale.
Furthermore, the work will include biomass extraction and fractionation using novel green extraction methods as well as detailed biomass chemical characterization using spectrophotometric bioassays, HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, Dumas Flash, ect.
Your competencies The applicant must hold a PhD degree in chemical engineering, bio-medical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a similar degree and preferably have significant experience with the chemical characterization including bioactive analysis, bioassays, biomass fractionation, and fermentation methods mentioned above.
