Skip to main Gå til Regionh.dk/job Søg job i Region Hovedstaden Region Hovedstaden søger Researcher in Observational Epidemiology and Causal Inference Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) Period: March 1, 2026 – February 28, 2029 (temporary, full-time) About the Research Group Cardio-Metabolic epidemiology performs research in cardiometabolic disease and health, a group of common and interconnected conditions such as overweight, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, heart failure, and stenotic liver disease.

We aim to investigate and develop effective pharmacological as well as lifestyle interventions to prevent the development and progression of cardiometabolic diseases and improve health. Furthermore, we also strive to advance the understanding of the underlying mechanisms that contribute to disease development.

Our epidemiological studies range in scale from several hundred participants to the entire Danish population, drawing on extensive datasets such as Danish nationwide registries and other large-scale “big data” resources. About the Project The primary focus of this position is the Novo Nordisk Foundation–funded project, “Informed Menopause Treatment – Mapping the Risks of Contemporary Hormone Therapy.” The project aims to characterize real-world treatment patterns of menopausal hormone therapy and estimate cancer and cardiovascular risks, with a focus on treatment heterogeneity.

The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a motivated researcher with a strong background in register-based epidemiology and causal inference, and a demonstrated track record of high-quality research in women’s health and cardiovascular or cancer epidemiology.
You hold a MSc and a PhD in epidemiology or public health, with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience in large-scale register-based research. You have published extensively in leading international journals and have a proven ability to design, execute, and publish studies using nationwide registry data.
Required Qualifications Documented experience in register-based research, including data management, linkage, and advanced statistical modeling Strong methodological expertise in causal inference, and experience in applying targeted learning methods to longitudinal data.
Excellent programming skills in R, with the ability to efficiently manage, process, and analyze large-scale registry data A publication record demonstrating contributions to pharmacoepidemiology. Experience in women’s health research or research related to female hormones In dept knowledge of cardiovascular or cancer epidemiology.

Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to both methodological and clinical research projects Desirable Qualifications Familiarity with large national cohorts and Danish registry data structures Supervisory experience with PhD or early-career researchers Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently Documented international research experience or research stays abroad, and the ability to leverage national and international networks to foster collaborative projects particularly within women’s health, cancer and cardiovascular research.
