You will transform data into clear, actionable recommendations, explaining the numbers behind your reports and guiding the business on what steps to take next. Alongside partnering with the organization, you’ll ensure financial transparency and rigor, enabling sound and strategic decisions.
About the role As Category Finance Analyst, you are the financial backbone supporting our Scandinavian optical retail business. You will own category-level financial performance (sales, gross margin, COGS, inventory and cash impact), partner with Category Managers, and translate data into actions that improve profitability.
Your core responsibilities Financial Control & Reporting. Manage month-end tasks for categories, including accruals, provisions, inventory valuation, reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Forecasting & Business Partnering. Build forecasts, scenarios, and sensitivity analyses. Challenge assumptions and convert insights into decisions on pricing, promotions, assortment, and lifecycle management. Margin & Cost Analysis. Dive deep into gross margin drivers such as price, mix, discount, markdown, vendor terms, and shrink.
Identify root causes and lead corrective actions to improve profitability. Inventory & Cash Optimization. Optimize OTB planning, sell-through, and ageing. Assess markdown and clearance impact while supporting working-capital targets. Decision Support & Storytelling. Create dashboards and KPIs in Power BI and present clear, actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders across Scandinavia.
Process & Tool Improvement. Enhance forecasting models, streamline planning workflows, and improve data quality across ERP and BI systems. Category & Market Insights. Monitor category performance, evaluate assortment and pricing strategies, assess promotional effectiveness, and benchmark against competitors to identify emerging trends.
About you You are a finance-first analyst with strong commercially mindset and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. You enjoy being close to the numbers and the decision-making—equally comfortable in Excel, in ERP/BI, and in a room with stakeholders.
Main Qualifications Relevant academic background Degree (Finance/Accounting/Economics (e.g., cand.merc.(FIR)/Finance, cand.merc.aud, HD(R), MSc Finance/Econ or equivalent). Experience in FP&A, controlling or commercial finance ideally within FMCG, fashion, or optical retail.
Strong controlling and analytical skills with the ability to connect data to commercial outcomes. Advanced Excel (Power Query/Power Pivot, complex formulas); familiarity with ERP (SAP/Oracle/D365) and BI (Power BI/Tableau). Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Scandinavian language skills are an advantage. Comfortable working in a matrix organization and collaborating across countries and functions.
