Contact organisation As a new initiative in Caritas Migranthus, we are starting mothers' groups for international mothers or mothers-to-be.The groups meet regularly once a week and the content is like other mothers' groups, an opportunity to meet others in the same situation, gain information and knowledge about birth and infants and join a community like all other new mothers.
Each meeting will have a presentation/discussion on a relevant topic, which will change from time to time and always be based on the mothers' specific challenges and needs.The group meets weekly during the day, the day of the week has not yet been determined.
The participating mothers and mothers-to-be will have different backgrounds, but motherhood and being new to Denmark are common.
The mothers experience that it can be difficult to go through something as life-changing as pregnancy, birth and maternity leave and at the same time do so in a new cultural context, which can differ greatly from the women's countries of origin.
The conversations will take place in English, once the mothers' group is established, it will also be possible to create groups with other languages as a common denominator.We envision volunteer health visitors, but it could also be relevant to have a midwifery background or other professional background with special insight into infants and pregnancy.
