Appointments at the assistant professor level will be for three years. Appointments at the associate professor level will be permanent.

We are also seeking to establish a research group in cognitive psychology with a focus on visual perception including visual attention and working memory. We are therefore looking for team players who will contribute to developing and driving this research agenda.

Both positions will contribute to teaching in cognitive, biological, and experimental psychology as well as methods and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses. One position will have main employment and teaching responsibilities at Campus Odense and the other at Campus Esbjerg, but both positions will involve occasional tasks at the other campus.

Both positions will have access to the research facilities of the department and applicants are invited to state if they prefer employment at one or the other Campus.

Both positions are expected to start on October 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

About us

The Department of Psychology at SDU was founded in 2010 at the Odense campus where it offers bachelor's and master’s degree programs to 130+ students per cohort in psychology. The psychology education at the Esbjerg campus is newly established, and the first cohort of about 75 bachelor students will start in the autumn of 2025 and a corresponding master’s degree program will start in 2028.

Our degree programs include courses in Danish and English.

The department is organized into three units that span across both campuses:

  1. Health and Cognitive Psychology,
  2. Clinical Psychology, and
  3. Community Psychology.

For more information on the department, units, research, and education programs see https://www.sdu.dk/en/om-sdu/institutter-centre/institut_psykologi

We are situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences (SUND).

On the Odense campus, all disciplines of the faculty are placed in the new health sciences building, which opened in 2023. The new university hospital, which is still under construction, is directly connected to the health sciences building, providing an ideal environment for collaborative research.

SDU is a campus university with all disciplines situated in close spatial proximity, providing for a wealth of opportunities to establish multidisciplinary collaborations (relevant disciplines may include e.g. neuroscience (see https://www.sdu.dk/en/forskning/bridge), audiology, engineering (e.g. robotics), ophthalmology, biology, and others).

The Esberg branch of our department is currently being established and offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to defining the foundations of the education and research program.

The psychology program in Esbjerg has an independent profile with strengths in community and applied psychology, engaging in co-creation processes with industry, governmental bodies, and civil society through trusted partnerships, fostering vibrant innovations.
