Banedanmark København
Team Lead for Safety & Interoperability Would You Like to Help improve the Future of Denmark’s Railway? Banedanmark is looking for a Team Lead to join our Safety & Interoperability section and play a key role in the nationwide deployment of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS).
As part of one of Denmark’s largest infrastructure transformation programmes, you will help ensure the safe introduction of modern digital signaling technology across the national railway network, including the S-train system. Working at the intersection of leadership, railway safety, and regulatory compliance, you will contribute directly to creating a safer, more reliable, and more efficient railway for the future.
The Safety & Interoperability section is part of Railway Safety within the Safety and Law Division. We work closely with project teams, suppliers, railway undertakings, assessors, and authorities to ensure that safety and interoperability requirements are effectively integrated throughout programme delivery.
Your Role As Team Lead, you will lead and develop a team of safety specialists and consultants while ensuring the successful delivery of key safety and interoperability activities across the programme. You will act as a trusted sparring partner for both your team and project stakeholders, helping to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions that support project delivery.
Your responsibilities will include: Leading and developing a team of safety specialists and consultants, ensuring clear priorities, high-quality deliverables, and continuous professional development. Ensuring compliance with Danish and European railway legislation and coordinating safety approvals and submissions to the relevant authorities.
Managing safety and interoperability activities across the Signalling Programme in collaboration with suppliers, assessors, railway undertakings, and internal stakeholders. Reviewing and approving key safety documentation and supporting the successful delivery of project milestones.
Maintaining the continuous improvement of safety processes, methods, and governance frameworks across Banedanmark. This position brings together team leadership and technical skills, offering a rare opportunity to help shape one of Europe’s most advanced digital railway initiatives.
Your Profile You have a relevant educational background and solid experience within railway safety, regulatory compliance, and approval processes in a complex organisational environment. You are an experienced leader who believes in collaboration, trust, and empowering others to succeed.
You are motivated by developing people and creating an environment where teams can perform, learn, and grow together. In addition, you bring: Experience with railway safety management and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of CSM-RA, CENELEC standards, TSI CCS, and relevant railway legislation.
Experience with ERTMS/ETCS, signalling systems, interoperability, system engineering, or railway approval processes. Solid stakeholder management and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively across technical and organizational boundaries.
What We Offer At Banedanmark, we believe that good leadership creates the best results. That is why we invest in our leaders through focused leadership development programs, giving you the chance to build your leadership skills and grow both professionally and personally.
You will become part of a public authority with a cooperative culture, where colleagues support one another in delivering results across disciplines, projects, and locations. We offer attractive employment conditions within the public sector, including flexible working arrangements and a great focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
