Senior software Engineer

Tembi is building the intelligence layer for European e-commerce.

We monitor more than 1 million online retailers across Europe and transform billions of datapoints into market intelligence that helps logistics providers, retailers and technology companies understand where the market is moving before their competitors do.

The next generation of market intelligence will not be built on static reports and dashboards. It will be built on continuously evolving data pipelines, AI-assisted enrichment, and systems capable of turning fragmented web signals into trusted commercial insight at scale.

the market opportunity is large, our product is gaining traction across Europe, and the engineering team is still small enough that great engineers leave fingerprints on everything they build.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong foundations in Python, infrastructure, data engineering and large-scale data systems to help us build the core of that platform.

THE TEAM YOU’LL JOIN

You will join a tight-knit engineering team of software engineers and data engineers working closely together to evolve our Market Intelligence platform.

We are around 20 colleagues today, with customers across Europe and a multicultural office in central Copenhagen.

We work with flat hierarchies, short decision paths and high ownership. Engineers at Tembi work closely with Product, Customer Success and customers themselves to understand real problems and ship solutions that create value quickly.

This is not an environment where engineers disappear into narrow silos or spend months building in isolation. We value pragmatic execution, strong collaboration and people who enjoy solving difficult problems head-on.

We continuously evolve our architecture as we expand into new markets, products and AI-driven capabilities.

• Evolve and maintain our scraping engine while expanding into new European markets and adapting to an increasingly dynamic and competitive web landscape.
• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and backend services powering Tembi’s market intelligence platform.
• Explore practical applications of generative AI and LLMs to improve data extraction, classification, normalisation and enrichment at scale.
• Safeguard data quality, reliability and lineage across our platform so customers can trust the intelligence we deliver.
• Improve CI/CD workflows, observability and engineering practices to help the team ship safely and frequently.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, product engineers and commercial teams to turn experiments into production-ready systems.
• Help shape the architecture of our data platform as we expand into new markets and product areas.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to a pragmatic, responsible and high-trust engineering culture.
• Take ownership from idea to production — understanding both the technical and customer side of the problems you solve.

• Expanded and stabilised data collection in new European markets.
• Improved reliability and quality of core datasets used directly by customers and AI models.
• Helped productionise AI-assisted enrichment and classification capabilities.
• Contributed meaningful improvements to platform scalability, observability and operational efficiency.
• Raised engineering standards through strong collaboration, ownership and pragmatic technical leadership.
• Delivered systems and improvements that customers actively use and see value from.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills and experience building production-grade systems.
• Experience designing and operating scalable backend services and data pipelines.
• Strong SQL and database fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, testing, deployment workflows and operational ownership.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Comfortable reasoning about performance, scalability, reliability and infrastructure cost.
• Experience with web scraping or large-scale open web data extraction.
• A pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset — you care about solving real customer problems, not just closing tickets.

• Experience applying LLMs or generative AI techniques to extraction, classification or enrichment problems.
• Experience with Databricks, Spark or modern lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with TypeScript and backend development beyond Python.
• Experience building internal tooling or developer platforms.

• You will work on genuinely difficult engineering and data problems with direct business impact.
• Your work will influence product decisions, customer outcomes and the future direction of the platform.
• You’ll join a senior, highly collaborative team that values ownership, honesty and pragmatic engineering.

Compensation is tailored individually based on experience, responsibilities and team fit.
