As Head of Back Office Operations, you are responsible for overseeing the full post-trade process lifecycle for power, gas, and certificate for both customer business and trading activities. This includes trade validation, matching, confirmations, settlements, invoicing, regulatory reporting and reconciliation.

The role is critical to ensuring the integrity and efficiency of operations in a high-volume, fast-paced energy trading environment. It requires both strategic oversight and hands-on leadership of teams, driving continuous improvements, automation, and cross-functional collaboration across the finance, risk, IT, and trading functions.

You are hands-on in your leadership, working closely with colleagues to embed a conscious culture while driving modernization and efficiency in how Mind Energy approach Back Office Operations. You’ll have the mandate to challenge existing ways of working, introduce innovative solutions, and set new benchmarks for efficiency and compliance across the organization.

You will lead 4 functional teams within Back Office Operations responsible for Market Trading, Customer Business, Regulatory Reporting and Data Operations — comprising of 17 professionals. Together, these teams ensure flawless execution, compliance, and operational excellence across Mind Energy’s global trading activities.

Your tasks and responsibilities can be summarized as follows:

End-to-end Trade Lifecycle Management / Process efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure accurate validation, matching, confirmation, and settlement of all trades (power, gas, and certificates).
  • Oversee physical and financial settlements, both bilateral and exchange cleared.
  • Take full ownership of the process and ensure continuous improvement and development.
  • Secure quality of information including investigation and explanations of significant deviations.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, streamlining workflows, and implementing best practices to enhance the team's productivity and effectiveness.
Position and Cash reconciliation
  • Lead the reconciliation of trade positions, fees, cash movements, and counterpart balances.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies swiftly, involving Front Office, Risk and Finance as needed.
Regulatory and Market Reporting
  • Oversee the delivery of REMIT, EMIR, and other market or regulatory reports on time and in compliance.
  • Maintain operational readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.
System ownership and Automation drive
  • Act as process owner for ETRM system workflows related to post-trade operations.
  • Lead automation and digitalization initiatives to reduce manual interventions and increase STP (straight-through processing) rates.
Support for New Markets, Products, and Business
  • Ensure Backoffice readiness when entering new geographies, onboarding new counterparties, or launching new contract types.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Trading, Risk, and IT to design post trade workflows.
  • Represent Backoffice in internal governance meetings and cross-functional projects.
Team Leadership and capability building
  • Manage and develop the Back Office team –including hiring, onboarding, training, goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accuracy and continuous improvement.
Incident Management and escalations
  • Take ownership of escalations involving failed settlements, unmatched trades, or discrepancies.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

We envision you hold the following profile to succeed

You probably have a strong educational background with a Master’s in Finance, Economics or similar. You have good understanding of the complexity of trading and being in the center balancing the different stakeholders.

You have a hands-on mindset, ready to build structured processes and ensure they are implemented effectively across the organization. You have experience leading teams and ensuring strong stakeholder engagement and operational improvements.

At a personal level you are proactive and thrive in a role where you set direction and drive change. You have strong stakeholder management skills, enabling you to work effectively with traders, sales teams, finance, risk, Back Office and senior management.

You enjoy working in a dynamic and evolving environment, where you can implement solutions and have a tangible impact.

You can communicate fluently in Danish and English.
