The position is a fixed term 3
-years full-time position.Job description The Department of Computer Science in Aalborg is now inviting applications from researchers specializing in probabilistic and neuro-symbolic AI.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:- Probabilistic machine learning
- Deep probabilistic graphical models
- Relational (deep) learning
- Graph neural networks
- Reinforcement learning These domains are central to our mission of advancing intelligent systems through principled, data-driven approaches.

The position is a career development position with the possibility of transition to a tenured associate professorship.
We will work together with you to develop your research talent through supervision, professional networks and pedagogical upgrading.
As an assistant professor your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching.
You will teach and supervise students at bachelor's and master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of international quality.
In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues.
Your main tasks will consist of:- Independent research of the highest international quality, including publication
- Teaching, guidance and examination of bachelor’s and master’s degree students, as well as
- possible supervision of PhD students.
- Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.
- The opportunity to collaborate with relevant national and international research
- environments.
You will report to the Head of Department, Peter Axel Nielsen.
Your competences We are looking for applicants with independent research-related qualifications at a high international level and a PhD degree in computer science or a related field, and you show potential to become one of the best in the academic field of the position.
You are a clear communicator with potential of becoming a skilled group leader, and you can, under guidance, organize and conduct supervision and teaching at bachelor’s and master’s degree level.Completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar will be a plus, as will experience with external research collaborations.
We also draw attention to a stay or employment at one or more internationally recognised research institutions.
As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be able to write and speak English at the academic level.
To be assessed qualified for an assistant professor position, you must meet these academic criteria.
